A beautiful girl who shares Sherlock Holmes’s nationality, chiharu has always been convinced she has a remarkable gift for detective work, even though her record of solved cases as president of her school’s Detective Club still stands at 0. “Before long, I’m definitely going to crack my first case!” she says. But what chiharu wants most of all is to find her older sister, who left home seventeen years ago over a forbidden romance and hasn’t been heard from since. That’s what drove her to become a detective in the first place. So one day, while scouring the streets for clues with her magnifying glass as usual, she keenly spotted a VirtuaReal ad recruiting streamers, tucked away in a hidden corner no ordinary person could ever find (read: a sidewalk vendor’s stall). After some careful, meticulous deduction, she concluded that if she started livestreaming, her sister would very likely see her, and that would accomplish her goal of finding her sister. She happily headed to VirtuaReal headquarters and made the cut. But this 17-year-old girl detective has no idea why she was actually chosen. It certainly wasn’t for her “keen powers of observation,” “meticulous attention to detail,” or “knack for easily guiding others down the right path”—claims that wouldn’t fool anyone. And yet her powers of perception, which can’t even find the cat around the corner… turn out to be in a league of their own when it comes to playing spot the difference. Here’s hoping this cheerful, outgoing girl can lead the people around her out of the gloomy corners of their hearts.
More to come. Stay tuned.
