Yua sees humans as complicated, unlovable creatures and regards them with immense fear and loathing. She has masterminded several invasion plans aimed at overthrowing human rule, all of which ended in failure. After stumbling upon VTubers—a terrifying phenomenon that very nearly conquered her—the clever Yua immediately settled on a plan: “Become a VTuber and seize control of Earth’s economic lifeline.” To make sure the plan went off without a hitch, she infiltrated a household somewhere in Asia, disguised herself as one of the family, and used that identity to quickly build up her social network. By making contact with a certain secret society called VirtuaReal, Yua has been advancing her plan at full speed without arousing the slightest suspicion. We don’t know how much longer we can keep this alien—who may be able to tamper with people’s memories—placated, but we’re confident that, at least for now, she still hasn’t realized we’re pretending not to know she’s fooling us. What we can’t be sure of is whether the fact that we think she doesn’t know we know about her, but she doesn’t know we know about her, is something she deliberately let us know.
