Word has it that the proprietress of the bar next door has been acting a little strange lately. She used to chat away with her regulars, but these days she just politely serves their orders, and for some reason her signature smile has turned a bit stiff. Still, her singing is as lovely as ever, which convinces everyone that the proprietress they know as “Noi” may simply be trying a new way of doing business. In truth, though, she gets incredibly nervous whenever she catches wind of such talk. She knows she can’t fully grasp human emotions yet, and that she isn’t yet capable of properly taking the place of the proprietress who passed away from illness. This Noi had taken on the last wishes of the original Noi, who drank like a fish despite her frail health: to run the bar well in her stead, and to keep sharing her songs with everyone around who loved to hear her sing. But Noi knows all too well that she still has a long way to go.
