VirtuaReal’s new members revealed! We’re always recruiting~

Hi, everyone~

With iced watermelon and the song of cicadas to keep us company,

a third of summer break has slipped by without us even noticing!

And in the middle of this sizzling summer,

VirtuaReal is welcoming new members once again!

Come and meet them!

Koxia

A girl wakes up in a hospital. Her medical chart says she took a heavy blow to the head, which sounds terrifying, but aside from losing part of her memory, nothing seems too far out of the ordinary. With Kuya, who never leaves her side, she follows what’s left of her memories back home. Cold, quiet, and without a trace of anyone else around: yep, this is Koxia’s home, all right.

Even now that she’s out of the hospital, her congenital anemia dooms Koxia to life as a beautiful shut-in. But her peaceful days are soon stirred up: first by an online “sensei” who always talks in a lecturing tone, then by a cat-eared silhouette that keeps appearing outside her curtains at midday, and finally by an oddball whose username is “Welcome, Please Register.” Without comparing notes, all three of her new friends brought up the same thing, and that’s why Koxia has now joined VirtuaReal and started streaming.

Hakuja

Mistakes come in all sizes. For the Serpent Clan, the first small mistake was choosing the lowborn Hakuja as the test subject for an unproven enhancement technique. The second small mistake was wildly misjudging the strength of their assassination target, a wealthy family’s second son. Then came the big mistake: concluding that because Hakuja’s assassination had failed, the experiment had failed too. And the final, fatal mistake was preparing to dispose of Hakuja as a failed specimen, turning the boy who had just become the strongest assassin in Serpent Clan history against them.

After drowning the Serpent Clan’s lair in blood, the boy, with no idea what to do with his snake life, walked slowly through the streets for the first time, feeling a little lost. But he soon made a new friend—a cute, tsundere catgirl who loves observing humans—and then his former assassination target offered him a new job.

Miyu

This investigator hails from a mysterious land of yokai and was sent by her higher-ups to observe and research human society. By day, she’s a big-sister type who loves sampling all kinds of good food, is on brotherly terms with the street punks in every back alley, and can chat and laugh easily with anyone. But at night, she goes home to a single lamp and a cup of tea and types away at her reports into the small hours. She often gets her pay docked for missing deadlines, too, and every midnight she wakes up in a bed ringed by sixteen little night-lights and can’t help but bundle herself up in her blanket and turn into a real-life crying cat meme.

Still, there are things in this life that make Miyu happy, namely getting to know lots of truly special people: a shut-in girl who never goes outside and can only talk through a window (the eaves outside her window make a great quiet spot for an afternoon nap); a young lady who uses magic to deliver parcels across worlds (Miyu even has to trouble her with delivering the investigation reports); a cool guy who never uses an umbrella even in a downpour yet never catches a cold (rumor has it that his little white snake, Taily, used to be his own tail); and that guy’s rich-kid friend. It was this lazy young master who came to them and asked if they’d like to join an organization called VirtuaReal together. Hearing that it would be a quick way to meet more people, Miyu happily agreed.

Yomiya

Over the hills and beyond the lake stands an enormous mansion. Far from civilization, nestled between mountain and lake, and surrounded by forest, this quiet estate is Yomiya’s home. Or rather, for someone as perpetually lazy as he is, calling it “the place where he sleeps” might better capture its importance. After all, sleep is the activity that utterly dominates his daily schedule. Most of the time, Yomiya never sets foot outside his bedchamber. It’s not that he dislikes dealing with people; it’s just that wherever people gather, it’s hard to find a good place to sleep whenever the urge strikes, and that’s something he simply can’t accept. Still, thanks to some rather unusual twists of fate, he does have a few friends offline.

Looking for a way to fill his somewhat boring waking hours, and wishing to share happiness with more people, Yomiya was instantly intrigued when a good-natured gangster doggo who drops by now and then mentioned VirtuaReal, and he soon dragged his friends along to join with him.

Rhea

Seventeen years ago, Rhea was born into a family of mages, and to the magical world, she was like a ray of dawn heralding a magical renaissance. After all, a genius born with an affinity for time magic who can also master space magic is vanishingly rare across the entire history of the magical world. The price, however, was that learning magic was ten million times harder for Rhea than for other mages. Soon even the most elite professors at her magic academy had nothing left to teach her, so the young heiress had no choice but to leave home early and set off on a training journey, drifting wherever the winds took her.

While roaming freely between worlds, Rhea came across a company called VirtuaReal, home to a number of powerful mages and magical creatures. To infiltrate the seemingly unfathomable VR, she used her magic—basically a cheat code for the delivery business—to open a courier company nearby. Sending every parcel exactly where it needed to go, swiftly yet gracefully, she soon cornered the entire local delivery market, VirtuaReal included, of course. But Rhea had completely overthought things. With her talent, all she had to do was walk through the company’s front door and shout, “I want to be an idol!” and she would have debuted on the spot. She didn’t realize this until the girl with black twin tails, while signing for a package, said to her, “From the moment I first saw you, I’ve been wanting to ask: would you consider joining our company?”
